bringing forth the chaos…

New Young Pony Club appears to be wasting no time with the release of their second record The Optimist in less than a month.  If you loved Just A Girl (and you should) then you should also find your ears perking up for Chaos! We’ve even got a more interesting video for this one! Instead of simply focusing on Tahita (not a bad thing, mind you), we’ve got all four members getting some well-deserved face time.

The song is yet another slice of new wave heaven and further evidence of the band taking the sound in a slightly different direction. Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, the band has ditched some of their more Slits-y references and have gone a bit more straight-laced. Less angular and more to the point. Will this change in sound result in a full-length anywhere near as good as the debut? We will find out soon enough…

looks like you lost a girl…

Hey! It’s the video for Lost A Girl! The lead single from The Optimist, the forthcoming record by New Young Pony Club.  The song itself is simply lovely and definitely shows a bit of growth in the band’s sound. Less perky, more moody. Always ace in my book. The video itself is nothing earth-shattering. It shows a distinctly late 70s-early 80s vibe in the use of lighting. In it, we find our heroine, Tahita Bulmer, dancing and mouthing the lyrics looking directly at the viewer. Save for a change in costume a little past halfway through the song, this is what we get. Nothing terrible, mind you. It also doesn’t do anything to either enhance or detract from the enjoyment of the single itself.

Can’t. Wait. For. The. Album.
