“Shades of violet

held inside

dreams of colour

come alive

will you trust me

take a bite

I’ll make you feel good inside”

Ever hear a song or watch a video that is so dirty you feel like you must take a shower afterwards and not in a bad way? I’d like to introduce James Leon and his debut single Purple Heart. James is an extermely talented artist from the UK who combines sultry dance grooves with a sense of longing and desire that not only carries the music, it devours it. The point is made here with Purple Heart. It’s not necessarily what he says that turns the song from a simple groove on a stick into a frenzy of anticipation, it’s the manner in which he sings that drives it home.

The video offers the visual accompaniment where we find our hero dancing and gliding through a club pleasding to us, the viewers for help in finding a home for his purple heart. I give James a thumbs up and I think you should too. Feel free to check out his MySpace.

dancing is her remedy…

No more poison
Killing my emotion
I will not be frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh
Stop stop preying
Coz I’m not not playing
I’m not frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh

Hot off the presses, ladies and gentlemen! It’s the promo film for the brand new Little Boots single Remedy! An absolute stomper of a tune taken from an album of stompers that should rightly find itself at the top of the UK charts. Never mind my crush on dear Victoria but is there anything more precious and inviting than a lovely young woman surrounded by synthesizers? I dare say that I think not, my friends! Part Madonna, part Kylie, all good in my book.

been there, done that, messed around
I’m having fun don’t pull me down,
I’ll never let you sweep me off my feet,
I won’t let you in again, the messages I’ve tried to send,
my informations’ just not going in,
burnin’ bridges shore to shore, I’ll break away from something more,
I’m not to not to love until it’s cheap

And there you have it, friends! Elly & Ben and friends aka La Roux make their nationally televised debut on Jimmy Kimmel and I must say it was pretty good! It was obvious that Elly was a tumultuous bundle of nerves on stage but she still came out like a champ. Not quite sure what the point of the drummer was there as it’s obviously he doesn’t add anything aside from the visual so not it’s all synths up on stage. Nonetheless, it was a good performance of a brilliant track from an ace debut record. America, the synths are back. I hope you’re ready…

from bristol with love…

“I’ve fallen in love with a photograph
A moment of youth that I can’t get back
The days when you’re here it returns again
Emotions that feed on me everyday”

It’s time that I clue you in on another long time favourite band of mine. They are called Mesh and they hail from Bristol, England. Yes. The birthplace of trip-hop. Although their music resembles very little of the sound that ut that city on the map, Mesh’s brand of electronic pop needs no apologies. Formed in 1992, the trio made up of friends Mark Hockings (vox), Richard Silverthorn (keys) and Neil Taylor (keys) quickly became one of the most respected bands in the synthpop scene. Ask most in the underground scene and they’ll quickly tell you their favourite single is most likely the epic single Trust You. To me, this song displays everything there is to love about the band. Precision production, melodic vocals, mucho danceability and ah yes! The big chorus payoff…

Check out them out now at once on their MySpace.
