The good news: Orbital aka Phil & Paul Hsrtnoll are back, stronger than ever and entering the live arena once again. The bad news? They’re not coming anywhere New York. The brothers will be playing Coachella and the Ultra Music Festival this year. This means that if you know what’s good for you, you will make a note to see them during this jaunt.
Though I wasn’t too crazy about the last Prodigy record, it’s good to see legends of techno coming back into the public consciousness. A little rave and a headache the morning after is never a bad thing in my book. Hopefully Orbital do make it a point to hit up the Northeast and keep the party going for a little while longer so those of us who’ve never actually seen them live before (like me!) may do so.
If nothing else, I will be forced to harass their management and booking agency until we get something done.
Here are their dates:
27 March – Ultra Music Festival – Miami FL
16 April – Warfield Theatre – San Francisco CA
18 April – Coachella Festival – Indio CA

It’s always nice to have a bit of good news…
It’s finally happening! The Specials are coming back to the States! When news of the ska legends’ reunion first made waves, it was bittersweet for those of us who aren’t fortunate to live in Merrie Olde. The band had gotten together to play some shows and festivals and reports from these performances were glowing. Granted the friction between the band and songwriter/majordomo, Jerry Dammers, has still not been rectified, this wasn’t enough to subdue the excitement surrounding the return of one of the 80s finest UK pop acts.
As a fan who never got the chance to see the band live during the heyday, I’m simply chuffed at the news that the band is playing this year’s Coachella Festival in Indio, CA. Not only that, the band will also be playing a show at…Terminal 5! Yup, the band will be playing a show here in NYC on 21 April! Tickets go on sale this Friday so if you’re ready for some hot and heavy skankin’, you will make sure to be at Terminal 5 for what promises to be a memorable show!

Here is this year’s lineup, friends. Straight from Goldenvoice. What do we think?

A decent lineup, to be sure. It’ll be interesting to note that Amy Winehouse. Who wants to bet money that she walks in and is carried out following another aborted performance. Here’s hoping it doesn’t happen as the girl has a world of talent. I’ll comment more later!
